LawLine Video Library is Now Free
By Josh King on July 31, 2012 in Continuing Education
Last month, online video CLE provider LawLine made a curious announcement: all of their videos were now free to view. LawLine has nearly 1000 videos, and – at least by the standards of most CLE programming – they are high-quality.
Of course, there is a catch: you’ve still got to pay if you want LawLine to issue CLE credit. If you view CLE narrowly as a compliance exercise, the news that you can now access a library of free legal educational videos will be met with a gigantic yawn. But if you’re getting started in your own practice, shifting to a new practice area, or trying to be a better attorney, there’s an awful lot to be gained from going through the LawLine video library.
Attorneys who successfully grow their practices know that success depends not just on working harder or longer. They know that a regular investment of time has to be made in both business development and education. Many make sure to devote an average of 2-5 hours per week, every week, on each. For these lawyers who get it, CLE compliance is a secondary matter of minor import – the main thing is continuous professional improvement.
Think about whether an hour on a slow afternoon would be better spent playing Angry Birds or watching Alan Schnurman hold forth on the secrets to selecting a jury in a personal injury case. LawLine has made it a lot easier to make the choice in favor of professional development – regardless of whether there is CLE credit on the backend.
